As we’re all prone to do from time to time, I’ve been evaluating my life and trying to figure out how to reach my goals. Some goals we dads have are short-term, like cleaning out the garage or reading The Chronicles of Narnia to the kids this year. Others are a bit more long-term. These types of goals require much more planning and commitment to achieving like learning how to play the guitar or publishing a book. The goals listed above are some of the most common that guys today have in mind. For me, getting out of debt is paramount.
Someone once said, “If you always do what you always did, you’ll always get what you always got.” This is why this year I’m endeavoring to follow another financial plan than my own. At the recommendation of several of my friends, I contacted Dave Ramsey to help. After a few emails were exchanged with his staff, I was sent a free copy of Total Money Makeover and the workbook that goes along with it.
Admittedly, I’m skeptical. I have no obligation to offer any particular or favorable review – which you have probably noticed with my past reviews. It’s my hope that I can document my journey to being debt free following the teachings of Mr. Ramsey in such a way that offers you guys an honest look at a real dad’s attempt at getting out of debt. I’m not sure what to expect just yet, but I hope you’ll follow along and see if there’s anything you can take away from this total money makeover.
